Statement from Our Principal

Mrs. Sheila Reddick is the founding Executive Director of Unity Classical Charter School. She is entering her seventh year as Unity Classical’s leader. When she accepted this position, she realized that all of her education and experiences had prepared her for this role.  She was born in St. Louis and lived throughout the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast. She earned her undergraduate degree in international communication from Eastern Illinois University. It wasn’t long before she realized that her passion was in education, so she returned to Eastern Illinois University for her teaching certifications. Her first teaching job was at Fanning Middle School, inner-city St. Louis. Her life continued to shift and she found herself utilizing both of her degrees when she accepted a position as a corporate trainer for Comcast Communications. Within a couple of years, she was handpicked to work with three colleagues to help build and create Comcast University at its headquarters in Philadelphia.

After 9/11, and with a young family, the New York /New Jersey area didn’t feel like the place to be anymore. So, she moved to the South and fell in love with living here. She started substitute teaching at St. Joseph’s Catholic elementary school which led to a full-time teaching position. During that time, she earned her Master's Degree in education with a concentration in educational administration at Anderson University. While at St. Joseph’s, she assisted in building a high school and two middle schools and became the school’s Vice-Principal. Towards the end of her career at St. Joseph’s, she decided to accept the offer to attend law school in Knoxville, Tennessee and concentrated on educational law.

Mrs. Reddick now resides in Charlotte. She is also now back in school earning an additional superintendency certificate from Harvard in school management and leadership.

It is with humbleness and great pride that she shares about beginning the Executive Director of Unity Classical Charter School. In her words,  “I believe that all children love to learn and can shine when given opportunities to feel successful. I believe curiosity is a wonderful thing. Hence, it is for these reasons I desire to create a wonderful and loving experience for each and every child who walks through our doors. Every child deserves an excellent education. I am honored and thrilled to work with a dedicated team within a school that provides a high-quality education alongside and within a school community built on a culture of love and respect!”
